LAKELAND | The first four games of the upcoming season for young Tenoroc High School would have any team wide-eyed, however, a good start in the kick-off classic might give them the confidence they need.

The Titans defeated Avon Park 19-13, in overtime, Friday night at home.

Junior Tenoroc quarterback Travis Tucker accounted for all three of the team's scores.

The Titans converted a fumble on Avon Park's first offensive series into the winning score. Tucker cashed in from two yards out with a quarterback sneak to give the Titans the win.

Tucker's heroics began in the fourth quarter when he hooked up with running back Darius Foster on a 60-yard, game-tying touchdown with 7:13 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Tucker came alive in the fourth quarter. Head coach Dave Robson began using a spread gameplan using the athletic abilities of Tucker to both run and pass in shotgun instead of from under center. Robson used misdirection with Tucker and runningback Darius Frasier to confuse the Red Devils.

"We'll look to do that a lot. He (Tucker) is a true dual-threat quarterback," Robson said. "We'll be able to have him be a ball carrier to get our passing game started."

Tenoroc plays at home next week against Ridge Community High School at 7 p.m.
