TENOROC | The Tenoroc Titans bounced back from a tough district loss last week to defeat Doral Academy Charter 20-7 in front of 600 homecoming fans at Tenoroc High School Friday night.
The Titans (2-4) took advantage of a muffed punt to score the first touchdown of the game early in the second quarter as quarterback Travis Tucker scored from two yards out. Tucker also threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Darius Frasier in the third quarter to build the Titans' lead to 14-0.
"We don't even categorize what kind of win it is anymore, we won the game and that's all that matters." Titans coach Dave Robson said. "We just hurt ourselves with penalties, and that killed drives."
Tenoroc was flagged for 18 penalties, including two that wiped out touchdowns.
After the visitors cut the lead in half at 14-7 with five minutes to go, the Titans went to the ground to get yards and take time off the clock.
LaDaniel Brinson picked up 61 yards rushing on the drive, including converting a 4th-and-2 on Doral's 20-yard line with 2 minutes left to seal the game.
Tucker scored from a yard out two plays later to finish the scoring.
The Titans' defense forced four turnovers and four sacks as they played hard nosed defense in the middle part of the game.
Tenoroc returns to district play next Friday as they go to Lake Wales.
"We have to play the perfect game next week and the stars have to be aligned," Robson added. "But it is high school football on Friday night, so you never know what might happen."
